5/8 COVID1D Closure Update

Updates for MO families on the thirty-third day of the COVID-19 health-related closure:

  • MO is ranked as the #4 safest community in NJ! Congrats and thanks to MOPD for being such a tremendous supporter of MOTSD.  
  • Based on Governor Murphy's directive, the Mount Olive Township School District will continue home instruction according to our Health-Related Closure Plan for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. All athletics and activities are canceled as well. Please go to and view the MOTSD Health-Related Closure Plan for daily updates, as well as, vital information about home instruction schedules, WiFi access, free and reduced meals, and continuity of District operations.
  • Friday, 5/8 will be a professional day for MOTSD teachers. Students should use this day to catch-up on outstanding assignments, as well as, enjoy the May weather while practicing social distancing.
  • In an effort to continue to support the Mount Olive Township School District community, breakfast and lunch are now available for any student free of charge. Meals will be distributed Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 7:30 am - 9:30 am at the Mount Olive Middle School. The district will provide meals on three days each week (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays): Complete this form to sign-up for meals. Students qualifying for free and reduced lunch who have already signed up or have been receiving meal delivery do not need to complete this form. 
  • We have an agreement in principle for a 100% refund (minus the $29 cost of trip insurance) for the MOMS Washington, D.C. trip. The MOTSD Board Counsel is finalizing the agreement, which will be presented to the MOBOE for approval on 5/11.

  • Reminders regarding digital learning: 
    • Students are expected to check their course-respective Google Classrooms on a daily basis to receive updates and assignments from their teachers.
    • Students are strongly encouraged to make themselves available for and participate during the synchronous learning opportunities facilitated by their teachers via Google Hangouts.  New content is being delivered and these sessions will help students continue to make academic progress.
    • If students need extra help they can schedule an office hours appointment with their teachers. 
    • If an extenuating circumstance such as illness, family responsibilities, or work dynamics prevent participation in synchronous sessions, please email your teacher, counselor, and/or building administration.

  • We are working very closely with Mayor Greenbaum, MO Township Administrator Tatarenko, and the MO Health Department to ensure our MOTSD families are as healthy and safe as possible. In an effort to respond to the many questions and concerns raised by our residents, the Township has established a COVID-19 email address  for general questions regarding the virus, Township preparation and response:  
  • With the exception of MOMS, all MOTSD buildings, fields, and grounds are closed to all staff, students, and community members. 
  • All registered MOTSD students who qualify for free and/or reduced lunch can pick up boxed breakfasts and lunches Monday, Wednesday, and Friday this week at Mount Olive Middle School from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
